The Eagle Has Landed!

Needless to say, we are ecstatic that our car showed up today!  It is like being 16 on the day you got your license all over again.  It was quite a process to get the car, but definitely worth it.  We had to get our temporary registration and plates first.  Next we went walked across the street to get the car.  We had to look it over and make sure there was no damage.  Then we walked back across the street to have it inspected (they are very thorough).  We ran out of time to go back across the street to the registration office and get our permanent plates, so that is on tap for tomorrow morning.  Once we have our permanent plates, we can go over to the gas station on post and get our Esso card. It allows us to buy fuel throughout Germany for the price sold on post (U.S. prices) which should save us about $1.50/gallon.  Fuel here is sold by the liter, and we get a ration of 400 liters per month.  No ration card=No fuel, No exceptions.

We are going out of town to a Strong Bonds retreat.  Someone from Greg's unit cancelled last minute, so we get to take their spot.  We will be there from Thursday to Saturday, and we are really looking forward to it.  It is an all expenses paid retreat to The Edelweiss Lodge in Garmisch, Germany.  Click on the link and check it out.

Next week will be non-stop.  On Monday I'm heading to IKEA in Wurzburg with the ladies I met in my SNAPS class to do some shopping.  On Tuesday afternoon we have our walk-through with our landlord and get the keys to our place! On Wednesday our borrowed furniture (bed, couch, tables, etc) will be delivered from housing.  On Thursday our Express shipment is being delivered.  The express shipment is stuff that we sent over about 45 days before we left to hold us over until our large shipment of household goods arrives.  It has sheets, some cookware, a small TV, video games and more winter clothes.  We are really looking forward to having it, as we didn't anticipate we'd wait so along to arrange for it to be delivered.  Our hotel room was just too small to hold it all.

That's about it for now.  We are doing pretty well so far.  As you can see the dogs don't mind the hotel life!  I think they will be even more excited when they see our house.  We will pass along some pictures on Tuesday or Wednesday once we get in.  Hope everyone is well!
