It's really been six months?

Yikes, time flies when you're having fun apparently!  I suppose an update is in order!  Things have been going pretty well for us here in Germany.  I would say we have definitely settled in and started to become much more comfortable with our surroundings.  We have been very blessed and fortunate to make several wonderful friends here.  It's great to be able to help others, and likewise receive help from genuine friends while living so far away from our loved ones!

Well, I guess I'll start with work, as that is usually how the day begins here.  Greg has just recently moved to B. Co 72d ESB to become their Platoon Sergeant.  So far the move has not been to bad, however it is 20:17 as I type this, and he is not yet home from work!  The late nights seem to happen less frequently though, so that has been a nice change.  He has not been in a line unit in a while, so it has taken some getting used to for both of us.  He is in charge of the daily activities of approximately 28-30 soldiers.  I have been working at the pX, and am slowly working my way into a better position.  It wouldn't be something I'd chose if we were stateside, but the options here are SEVERELY limited.  It keeps me busy during the week and provides us with "fun money" to explore Germany in our off-time.  I started a new position today as an Inventory Control Associate, and finally have weekends off to go with it!

Dad & Greg in Wurzburg
We were extremely fortunate to have my Dad, Judy and Kim come visit us in June.  They were here with us for a week, so we tried to show them a little bit of the fun we've been having over here.  Time went by way too fast, but we managed to put 1300 miles on the car in 7 days, so it would have been hard to pack too much more in.  We spent time in Garmisch, Munich, Nuremburg, Bamberg and Wurzburg.  We lucked out with the weather for the majority of their trip as well, which made our travels pretty easy.  Germany was playing pretty good soccer during the FIFA Euro Cup that week as well, so that made for a few entertaining evenings as well.

We are looking forward to doing more travelling in the coming months.  Having our work schedules finally in sync should help dramatically.  We are taking our bikes and golf clubs with us on a trip back to Munich and Garmisch for a four-day weekend in a couple weeks.  We are hoping to take in the Neuschwanstein Castle this trip, as well as the Etal Monastery.  We are going to play some golf at the USAG Garmisch course, so we are looking forward to our first round on German soil as well!

We hope everyone is well, and we will try to do a better job at keeping up the blog a bit.  Hopefully we will have lots of pictures and stories from our next adventure.  Stay tuned . . .
